This kitchen was designed to be an inviting space for weekly family gatherings. On Friday nights, family and friends come to enjoy Mom's homemade gourmet pizza pies and to see each other before busy weekends. Providing visual interest and contrast to the marble walls, semi-circled niches above three custom ovens were perfect areas for hand-painted tiles. A cream-colored 6" porcelain tile was chosen to meet the installation specifications. Inspiration for the pattern was drawn from a beloved ceramic plate Mom had from her native home in Italy. The intricate pattern includes subtle grays, taupe, brown, and gold, which provide balance against the soft variable tones in the marble. Niches are accented with embossed marble frame pieces to add a finished touch. The variety of textures, soft tones, and personal details make for both an inviting and uniquely elegant gathering space for a family passionate about cooking and spending time together.
